"How Can I Light The Way"
1. How can I light the way of one if I have not the light?
How can I speak of vision clear if my eyes have not received sight?
How can I guide one falt’ring step if the way I myself have not trod?
How can I tell of love divine if indeed I know not God?
2. Whence comes the inner peace and calm unless from His love divine?
Whence comes th’eternal flame, the light, unless from His Being it shine?
Whence come true visions of splendor sublime,
Whence the comfort of staff and rod?
Whence comes the flow of eternal good if the one source be not God?
3. How may I live to serve Him best, how spread the word of love?
How carry the message of perfect peace, how tell of the fullness thereof?
How can I reach the inmost light of his countenance tender and mild?
How can I teach that love so pure if indeed I am not His child?
