I Knelt To Pray

(Carole Glenn)
Composed by Della Heide
"I Knelt To Pray"
1. The lonely heart, the dark’ning night,
The troubled sea of sorrow’s plight,
The restlessness, the willful way,
These vanished when I knelt to pray.
And in their place there came sweet peace,
The inner calm of full release
From bonds of error, freedom’s way
Was opened when I knelt to pray.
Then in the hush my soul was stilled
As listening my being thrilled,
A voice of comfort seemed to say,
“I answer when you kneel to pray.”
2. Divine assurance freely giv’n
Revealing beauteous realms of heav’n
Within the soul inherent lay,
Responsive as I knelt to pray.
Oh light so wondrous, radiant love,
Forgiving pow’r, oh winged dove,
Continue thy transforming ray
That meets the soul who kneels to pray.
